The Fifth Annual South Florida Regional FEA Conference will take place on Thursday, November 15, 2018 in the FIU’s Graham Center.

High school students are invited to participate in an action-packed event filled with:

  • Networking
  • Leadership development
  • Professional development
  • Career workshops
  • And much more!

FEA members will have the opportunity to interact, network, and learn from leaders in education, peers and college students. The conference will highlight the many advantages of a career in education and showcase the innovation, leadership, and tenacity needed to be successful in the profession. This event will build a community of future educators and inform students about educational and career options.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

This event is open to high school students in grades 9-12, who are interested in careers that involve teaching and education.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Your school is responsible for transportation. Parking for school buses will be available at designated spaces on campus.

For guest faculty/students arriving by car, metered parking is available on the day of the event. Parking rates are hourly, but you can purchase a daily parking pass for $8.00. We strongly recommend that you arrive early in order to find convenient parking near the venue.

What is the dress code for conference attendance?

In order to promote a professional atmosphere, students participating in the conference will be required to wear business casual attire. For men this consists of khakis or dress pants with a polo shirt or a button-up, collared shirt. For women this consists of khakis, dress pants, dress capris, knee length or longer skirts with polo shirts or dress blouses. Jeans, tank tops, halter tops, extremely short shorts or skirts, and cut-offs are NOT acceptable. Dress shoes or sneakers are appropriate. Flip-flops and sandals are NOT acceptable.

Be prepared to walk extensively. Comfortable clothes and shoes are essential. High-heeled shoes are not recommended.

School uniforms are appropriate.

Will breakfast/lunch be provided?

Breakfast and lunch are included in the registration fee. Breakfast will be served from 8:00am until 8:45am. To avoid disruptions during the Opening Ceremony, breakfast will not be offered after 8:45am.

What can I bring into the event?

You may bring water bottles, sunscreen and umbrellas. You are encouraged to leave irreplaceable items as well as those with a high dollar or sentimental value at home. While we do not anticipate the lost or theft of such items, FIU is not responsible for any items that are lost or stolen during the participant’s experience at the FEA Conference.

What’s the refund policy?

Only attendees who pay the registration fee by credit card can request refunds up to 30 days before the day of the event. Payments made by check will not be refunded.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Yes, printed tickets are required to enter the event.

Can I update my registration information?

You can update the information on your order (like name or email address) by clicking your order on the Tickets page. Only certain information can be changed—you can’t change the number of tickets ordered, billing address, or credit card/payment type used.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Yes, tickets can be transferred to someone else. The simplest way to “transfer” your tickets to someone else is to change the name (please see above how to update the information on your order). We recommend updating the email address and checking the box to send the new attendee a confirmation email with all the ticket/registration information they’ll need as well.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn’t match the person who attends?

No, the name on the ticket or registration must match the name of the peron attending the event.
